Printable Christmas Gift Tags – Well, we’re closing in on “that time of year” again.  Christmas is now less than a month away and I’m starting to get organized buying and making the gifts on my list. Stayed tuned over the next few weeks as I’ll be posting some of my homemade gift ideas.  I always like a personal touch in my gift wrapping too so I drew some cute Christmas themed drawings and turned them into these sweet little gift tags.

I’d also like to make things a bit easier for you as well so I’m sharing these printable gift tags. There are 4 different designs and 8 gift tags on a page. Just print and cut out – thicker card stock paper works best.  Enjoy!

Oatmeal Honey Face Scrub

| Health & Beauty

Oatmeal honey scrub-colorOatmeal Honey Face Scrub – Every now and again I feel like my face just needs a deep scrub when my daily cleanser alone can’t quite get the job done.  One of my favorite homemade facial scrub recipes is so simple but OH SO GOOD!  There are only 3 ingredients and you may already have them: oatmeal, honey and almond oil (or coconut oil or olive oil). These ingredients have wonderful healing qualities. Oatmeal is full of anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds and is known for its skin-soothing properties including moisturizing dry skin, providing relief from itching, rashes and other minor skin irritations. Honey provides natural antibacterial and healing properties to soothe and clarify the skin. Almond oil is very light and not greasy at all. It cleans skin pores and helps moisturize and nourish it – and it’s especially great of acne prone skin.

I usually put the scrub on my face, give a quick rub around to make sure it’s covering everything, leave on for 4-5 minutes and then give one last good scrub before I wash it off. Your face will feel so amazing after you’ll want to do this everyday. This scrub is particularly great during the cold winter months when skin tends to get dry and irritated.

Oatmeal Honey Scrub Recipe:

  • Two parts oatmeal (ground up finely in a blender or food processor)
  • One part honey
  • One part sweet almond oil (or coconut or olive oil – which ever you prefer)

Mix everything together until it’s a thick sticky mixture. Feel free to add a little extra oil or even a few drops of water if it’s too sticky or clumpy. Smooth onto face and rub into skin for a couple of minutes and then rinse off.

Thanksgiving Printable Place Setting for Kids – It’s hard to believe but it was over a month ago that we celebrated Thanksgiving in Canada.  We had the fortune to be invited to two fabulous dinners.  Along with my food contributions, I also brought along a fun Thanksgiving printable for the kid’s place settings.  Just print out these coloring pages and place where the kids will be sitting for dinner.  This will give the kids a fun activity and keep them entertained while the adults get all the wonderful food on the table. Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends!

The Best Chicken Noodle Soup You’ll Ever Eat!

| Cooking

The best chicken noodle soup you'll ever eat.

The best chicken noodle soup you’ll ever eat.

The Best Chicken Noodle Soup You’ll Ever Eat! – Once a month, on a Sunday afternoon you’ll find me in my kitchen busily making soup.  This isn’t just any soup… it’s the best chicken noodle soup you’ll ever eat! This is the kind of soup that you’ll tell your mother about, your friends about and gladly bring to cheer up any sick relatives you may have. I usually make this soup and then freeze the soup in individual bags to take for my lunch at work – some of my colleagues call me the soup girl. Go to the store, get all the ingredients and make this soup immediately. Once you’ve had this recipe, you’ll never want any other chicken soup again! On a side note, I can’t even remember the last time I was sick… coincident, I think not!

  • 4 chicken legs with backs attached
  • 4 boxes (32 oz. box) of low sodium chicken stock (organic if possible)
  • 2 onions, peeled and diced
  • 4 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 1 chicken bouillon cubes
  • Kosher salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • 1 cups sliced celery
  • 1/2 cup  sliced mushrooms
  • 3 tbsp parsley, chopped
  • 2/3 cup white wine
  • 2 tsp rosemary, chopped
  • 1/2 cups grated Parmesan or Asiago cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream (whipping cream)
  • 1 bag of broad egg noodles

    1. Put the chicken and all the listed above ingredients until salt and pepper into a large pot on the stove and simmer for about 1 hour or until chicken is tender.
    2. Remove chicken and place on a plate to cool. Strain broth through a colander into another large bowl. Discard any remnants left into the colander.
    3. Shred chicken meat and discard any bones or skin.
    4. Return broth to the large pot, place back on heat and bring back to a gentle boil. Add meat back to the broth.
    5. Add carrots, celery, mushrooms, rosemary and parsley and cook for half an hour.  Feel free to add a bit of water to the broth if the stock has really cooked down.
    6. Add wine, cheese and heavy cream. Add the bag of broad egg noodles and cook for an additional 15 minutes.
